The holidays are quickly approaching. I need to start my holiday shopping. Along with my graduation being three days away, my three year anniversary with Jaime is also on Sunday. Can you believe it? Three years! Where did all of that time go? Our time together has been a spontaneous rollercoaster ride, but I have enjoyed every bit of the time.
This post is leading in the direction of a heated fuming session. Viewing of this post is not permitted for children.
I need to leave the Olive Garden as soon as possible. The establishment seems to be getting worse with the time. The "new restaurant" excuse is getting old, as this particular Olive Garden has been open for business for over six months now. Some of the employees have really pissed me off. A few of the chefs either need to be struck by lightening or some type of God-fearing scare. Either that, or they just need a good asskicking that will provide them with both the reality check and the attitude adjustment they sorely deserve. Last night I had a couple, who are Olive Garden regulars, who came in for dinner. The woman ordered Cappelini Pomodoro without garlic, while the man ordered Five-Cheese Ziti. I definitely sent the food on time (right before placing the salad and breadsticks on the table).
Ten minutes later, as I looked in the window, I only saw a Five Cheese Ziti and a Cappelini Pomodoro, with MY ticket placed on the entrees. As I took the Five Cheese Ziti, and was about to take the Cappelini Pomodoro, the expo says to me, "you wanted Cappelini with no garlic, correct?" I responded, "yes I did." He tells me, "Well that has garlic!" I'm sorry dipshit, but I do not exactly have a garlic radar system uploaded in my anatomy just yet.
Why the hell was it placed right behind my Five Cheese Ziti with my ticket on top of it????
Why the hell did it NOT have garlic, as I requested? Why the hell was my Cappelini Pomodoro, without garlic, not in the window with my Five Cheese Ziti which contained my ticket????
This gets better!
My Five Cheese Ziti was just dying in the window for a good ten to fifteen minutes, as I waited for the those incompetent ass clowns to come up with my cappelini. It was not until fifteen to twenty minutes later that my cappelini was finally in the window! What happened at that point? My Five Cheese Ziti was GONE. My Five Cheese Ziti was NOT at the table for my poor guest. Therefore, I had to inform the guests that the Five Cheese Ziti was on its way. The chefs were required to make it again. Fortunately, my guests were understanding of the situation. The man at the table told me, "We know that there was a problem in the kitchen; your extraordinary service made up for that."
Thankfully, some of the fuck nuts, whom the restaurant staff pathetically refer to as "chefs," did not destroy my tipping opportunities with that party. There are one or two of chefs whom I am quite fond of - nice people who do plenty to help me out - and I hang out with them outside of work. They know who they are. Some of the others, who give me an attitude and fail to admit to their fuck ups, however, need a reality check.
We ended up giving the guests, who were screwed out of a prompt entree arrival, complimentary deserts and coffee. The nerve of the expo to tell me that I was "wigging out" as a result of the two entrees taking a total of thirty fucking minutes to arrive at the table!!!!
WIGGING OUT????
Teach your staff, some of which deserve to get their wigs pushed the fuck back, to prepare TWO fucking entrees for a party of TWO on time jack ass! Do not place my ticket on top of two plates when one of them, a Cappelini Pomodoro - as opposed to a Cappelini Pomodoro without garlic - is not mine!!!
Furthermore, a ticket should not be in the window if there is at least one plate missing!!!! Incompetent ass clowns! These motherfuckers will tell me to stop wigging out, but they do not have to deal with angry guests who are expecting their dinners to come out on time!
As one can tell, I seriously need to get out of there A.S.A.P.! I am tired of dealing with these assholes on a consistent basis. It is one thing to be obnoxious and rude to your fellow employees, occasionally, as a result of a bad day. However, this seems to be happening almost every day with some of these people. A bunch of obnoxious, careless, thoughtless, cocksuckers!
God, PLEASE help me find another job - one that I can obtain with a Bachelors Degree!
Today is Tuesday!
What happens on Tuesday nights??? Kareoke night at Murphy's with the O.G. crew! Who ever would have thought I would have something to look forward to on Tuesday nights, and in Dover, nonetheless??????
On a more serious note...
Graduation is vastly approaching, yet I still maintain a rigorous job search in attempt to land the right job. At this point, I have been searching for over a month.
I actually came across a couple opportunities, such as the Bankers Life and Casualty Company and Diversified Companies. I only wish the Bankers Company had an office in South Jersey. The only offices in Jersey are in Brick and Parsippany. I also wish they would respond to my email. They sent me an email last week, so I responded to theirs in order to obtain further information, but I have not received a response.
Their email to me stated as follows:

My goal is to try and land an entry level job with decent pay by January. That may not be realistic, but that is the time and the circumstances for which I am targeting.
Five more days, and I will finally have a college diploma. This has been long overdue. I just hope, in the long haul, I will have made the journey financially well worth it. Hopefully, the appropriate job opportunity presents itself in due time following my graduation. Doubles as a server and busser at Olive Garden are getting older and much less lucrative (not that they were at all lucrative to start out with).
To be honest with you, I am so not enjoying the current routine. I desperately need a job that is bigger and much better, and I will not stop searching until I find a satisfying candidate.
Wish me luck and pray for me!
Upon arriving at Stockton yesterday to submit my internship paper and journal, I was completely unaware that Colleen was having a Christmas party at her apartment on campus. It was not until Jack randomly located me, by the computers in the school library, and asked me if I was going to Colleen's later that evening. That proposition automatically made due for my plans for the night.
When I got to Colleen's, she had plenty of food and drinks. Mike, Jack, Frank, Colleen's friend Erin, and couple of other gentlemen were present at the party.
The closing credits to National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation were on, so we were about to watch Bad Santa (Bader Santa: The Unrated version) next. I had seen this movie once before a couple years ago with Jaime, and I did not care for it, but I was not really paying attention to it at that time, and for good reason. The movie is not as bad as I thought it was, after actually having paid attention to it, but this is CLEARLY no type of holiday movie for children. This movie is for adults, much like spiked egg nog.
NOTE: To any children who managed to get their grimy little mits on a keyboard and found me on the world wide web: If you find a way to watch this movie, without the awareness or permission of your parents, you will be making some unpleasant discoveries on your own free will!
Bad Santa must contain well over 200 expletives. I feel so bad for the troubled young boy in that movie. I wonder what that little actor's parents thought about all vulgarity he was subjected to during the shooting of that film!?!? Mark my words; this is no Christmas Story or The Santa Clause.
After Bad Santa, we all watched Elf starring Will Ferrell, which is a bit more consistent with the habitual holiday flicks. After finishing up with the Christmas movies, we all began trading ghost stories that we knew. Nothing like keeping the theme of the night consistent. LOL. Nonetheless, last night was an awesome time that I had on campus. Times with good friends and interesting people at the grand old Stockton College is always sure to be a fun occasion. I love this place!
Colleen baked delicious brownies, for which she claimed, "there is usually a wait for these." Fortunately, there was no wait on those brownies last night. In fact, at the end of the night, she auctioned them off to me! I won them! I ate the rest of them this morning! YESSSSSSSS I did!
I would also like to thank Colleen for letting me crash at her apartment.
Great times last night.
Tonight, I am heading up North to attend yet another Christmas Party with my love Jaime and the Hizowell gang at this restaurant. There will be hors' odourves as well as an open bar. That is one hot deal I just can not refuse ladies and gentlemen. Olive Garden had me scheduled [against my availability] to work AGAIN as a busser on a Saturday, but for the second weekend in a row, I am not going into work! To hell with that!
Get wet with the girlfriend at an open bar? Or get dirty bussing?
Not exactly a difficult decision to come to folks.
8 more extremely short days until graduation! WHO HOO!!!!!!
What more can I say???? I am kind of a big deal that is only going to grow and become bigger. Not too long from now, this deal is going to be ENORMOUS! Hahahahaha!!! I am half man, half amazing.
Until next time, have a great weekend and stay warm. Return again soon for the latest on the greatest. You do not want to miss a beat!
Hopefully the snow has calmed down up in North Jersey, so I can drive home safely tomorrow morning for work.
No more cold snowy baseballs falling from the sky please!
North Jersey was blasted really hard with a severe snowstorm early this morning. This was not the little snow shower that was originally predicted to be four to six inches of snow last week. Just the opposite. Right from the outset, the snowflakes were literally the size of baseballs! For that matter, we can call them snowballs rather than snowflakes.
I actually had the balls to drive through such a snowstorm in order to get to Stockton College to submit my completed internship paper and journal. While sliding (better verb than driving in this instance) down Rt. 80, and almost doing a 360 right in the middle of the Parkway, I instantly recalled the six or seven plow trucks that were plowing a dry road last weekend - noticing at the same time that there was not a single plow truck in sight on Rt. 80 this time around!
I'm at Stockton right now and I can tell you that I love this place just as I always have. I am fond of this area. I love the pineys. I love South Jersey. I love visiting. I am going to love living here when I find me a new job as well as a pad. Earlier today, I had lunch at G-wing with Jeremy and Jack. A little while ago, I went to visit Jeremy (my old roommate from last year) at his apartment off campus.
The fact that my part of the internship is complete is a major load off my back. As for now, I await my graduation ceremony in just nine short days [pat on the back for yours truly]. I am quite proud of myself, especially after I all I have been through [exit interviews, holds, and years of course work] to reach this special landmark. The Great One is finally graduating and there is nothing anybody can do now that will change that.
Only the Lord knows exactly what the year 2006 brings, but one can only hope that next year is a great year. The year 2005 had its share of misfortune. Through my graduation, the holidays, and a thorough job search, I am targeting a busy, independently approached, and successful 2006! New challenges await me in the new year, such as the GMAT (I am finally going to take it), my new job (whenever I land a decent position with a desirable salary), and ultimately graduate school to get my MBA. I originally wanted to take the GMAT much sooner, but first I had to cross the Ts and dot the Is before I could move on to other business. Once this commencement ceremony is over, I find a job as well as my own apartment, then I will begin to pursue the GMAT.
Nothing and nobody has changed my prediction of the result for the GMAT. I will definitely excel on the GMAT, whenever I take it. I will succeed and confound anyone who predicted any result other than what I stated was going to happen on that test. High scores are produced by people of high status. I will show everyone when that day comes! In the year 2006, I will have graduated and it is going to be a coming out party for me. The obstacles that 2005 presented for me hopefully have prepared me for 2006, so the world better be ready for The Great One as well. It is time for my arrival! There will be major announcement of what is to come next for yours truly come the New Year! Once I have that hard-earned paper high merit that I am going to receive on Sunday, December 18, the world is mine! No games. No fronts. No bullshit!
Those are my intentions. That is what I want. That is what I shall receive.
Power.
More freezing weather... hip hip hurray!!!
On a much brighter note, my internship report and journal entries will all be complete and submitted to Dr. Whithem tomorrow at Stockton.
Yes, I am submitting everything, in person, because that is the best way to submit such an important assignment. This paper and journal is the entire course; the final course requirement that will determine whether or not I ultimately receive that much-needed, desired, and hard-earned paper on December 18 - just 10 short days away! Now that's whassup! The freezing cold and blustery winds - for which only the damned souls, who are forever banished to the bottomless pits of hell, should feel - can not take this happy moment away from me.
That reminds me... I need to pick up my commencement tickets tomorrow, as well as my cap and gown for the graduation. I also need to take my senior portrait; another pleasant reminder, which will be framed and placed on my wall, that I did in fact finish college.
Stockton friends and associates, be ready for my arrival tomorrow!
Tonight, on a darker note, I am once again working as a busser. BOOOOOOO!!!! I do not think there is anything else in this entire world that makes me feel as old I do when I am bussing. I am doing it, however, because the restaurant was short-staffed of bussers for a couple weeks. Recently, management hired a new busser, so hopefully my duties as a busser permanently come to an abrupt conclusion. To sum up this particular topic, bussing is not fun!
That's enough of the dark notes.
To conclude this post on a high note, I'm off to Stockton College tomorrow morning!!!!
Christmas party with the girlfriend on Saturday night. Open bar and buffet. Splendid! I am definitely looking forward to this party.
Until next time, take care, be safe, and stay bundled up.
Peace.
Murphy's, Dover-Rico, Nueva Jersey's crowning glory and savour establishment, was once again the hot spot last night for the O.G. crew, as it usually is every Tuesday night for kareoke night. The O.G. regulars were there, including Beth, Rico, Eileen, Tom, and Rob. Matt and Michelle, who are rather new at the O.G. came to Murphy's last night, as did Ernie. Janine was also out for her birthday with her boyfriend and his friend. There may have been some others, whom I failed to mention.
For the second week in a row, I got up on stage and sang. I sang "U Remind Me" by Usher. For shits and giggles, the second song I sang was "Bye Bye Bye" by 'N SYNC. Rico, Ernie, and myself all got up on stage and sang it together. Quite a scene. Many teenage girls perceived 'N SYNC as a hot pop band, but Justin Timberlake left to target his own individual pursuits in the world of pop, and 'N SYNC itself pretty much went "Bye Bye Bye" right off the map of popularity. Ladies and gentlemen, that is no longer a band, only a place for dishes.
Sorry Larry Fritz! You would have been proud of us last night though...
Murphys is a great place on Tuesday nights. Afterwards, most of us went to the Rockaway Diner to grab a bite to eat.
That is all. Back to the internship paper.
Take care everyone. Blog you later. Bye bye for now.
The weather forecasters predicted four to six inches of snow on the radio yesterday, but from what I could see outside, they were off with their forecast. Thank God.
The sun is out today, so it is melting the ice on the grounds and the driveway I walk to get to my car. Perhaps the placement of salt on my driveway would be a good idea, instead of waiting for the sun to do the job. Should I always wait for the sun, I could be waiting weeks - maybe even months! This is New Jersey and it is the month of December.
Today I am working a double, which has been the case on Tuesdays lately. For the second week in a row, it appears that I am going to have to call out of Saturday's scheduled bussing shift. For the past couple months, my availability has stipulated that I do not work on Saturdays. They did a decent job of scheduling around that availability up until last week.
I called out last Saturday when I was scheduled, and they let me do so, acknowledging for the moment that my availability did not include Saturdays. Therefore, why the hell did they go ahead and schedule me for another Saturday this week??? DUH!
My mind is firmly focused on the completion of my internship journal, paper, and ultimately this internship requirement! I only have approximately twelve days until my graduation, so I must submit everything to Dr. Whithem by next week. Another major goal of mine is to move out of the current residence with my mother A.S.A.P.! The time has come for me to live on my own under my own roof and with my own rules.
Not only is she currently charging me rent (which I can respect), but now she is giving me receipts for my payments as well. She claims it is because she does not want to forget that I paid her, but how could she forget????? She places a note on my door every Monday morning that states, in large letters, "RENT DAY!" I seriously doubt she is going to forget something so important to her. Had I not paid her every Monday, I am not sure she would leave me alone about it until I made the payment. If in fact she does not want to jip me, as she claims is the case, I can respect that. Nonetheless, I really need to find me a pad.
As a result of wanting to move out, my resume has been updated and submitted to Careerbuilder and Monster. Fortunately, those jobfinders are coming up with a variety of opportunities. It is just a matter of discovering the right opportunity in the right location and seizing it. My goal is to find another job and move out by early to mid January.
Can I do that ladies and gentlemen? Is that at all realistic?
I am praying for and working towards the best. Keep me in your prayers!
For now, I need to graduate! My date with destiny is becoming apparent.
12 more days - less than two weeks!
Yes, after being treated to warmer weather than we were accustomed to in the month of November, December finally greeted us with the friendly winter weather that we all love. Freezing cold, snow showers, flu, illnesses, and all of that other fun stuff.
Today, however, I am enjoying my 2nd day off in a row from work. Originally, I was scheduled to work at 4pm as a busser, but I am definitely not going to carry on with those plans. My availability, since October, does not include Saturday. After failed attempts to get the shift replaced by other bussers, I called out of work this morning at 10:30, citing the reason why I am unable to make the shift. Fortunately the manager did not give me any trouble about it.
I have better plans. Jaime is driving up to spend the evening with me. We are going out to dinner and we intend to rent a hotel room. I have seen this girl once in the last seven days, that being a 20 minute visit to her house on the way home from Stockton this past Wednesday. That just will not due! No it will not! I must see her tonight! She will be with me tonight; for that I am thankful.
Through the providers Careerbuilder and Monster, my job hunt is currently in progress. I have updated my resume and submitted it to both jobfinders, with a note attached at the top that states, "Graduating with bachelor's degree in Business Studies on December 18, 2005." Hopefully that grabs some much needed attention. I must start mapping out my life for 2006. My intentions are land a job in due time so that I may have the funds to get my own place in South Jersey, preferably a single bedroom apartment provided by the Galloway Real Estate Agency.
Finding my own place and living on my own is another objective that I am boldly attempting to meet. In order to meet that objective, serving and busing are not going to cut it!
Procrastination has been the unfortunate name of the game with my internship paper, so I must get back to that right now. Take care, be safe, and stay warm!
Peace.
16 more days until graduation!!!
Currently I am at the County of College of Morris (C.C.M.), or "Harvard on the Hill" as many like to refer to it as, to work on my internship journal and paper. I submitted the midterm evaluation form to the managers so they could fill it out and send it to Dr. Whithem at Stockton College A.S.A.P.
17 more days until graduation!
- I must complete this course requirement.
- I must begin my job hunt.
- I must look for an apartment in Atlantic County.
Each day passing gets sweeter and sweeter. In 2006, I'm taking my degree with me, hopefully on a trip to the promise land!
Experience to last from January 26 to January 30, 2006.
Let me be the first to admit that I am just a bit nervous about boarding the very first flight of my life in just under two months from now, but the actual vacation that comes with it seems quite appealing.
According to Scott, all of us will most likely be staying the Hyatt Regency, a hotel for which the bar the grill is owned by pop star Justin Timberlake. This particular hotel is a major hangout to all the stars and high rollers in the Beverly Hills area. Scott is also trying to land us tickets to Jay Leno during our stay in California. During our stay, we will also be driving to San Francisco as well as Los Angeles, so I am truly psyched about this monumental vacation, which will be my first legitimate vacation in over five years. Last time I went anywhere for a vacation was in August of 2000 at Virginia Beach, VA. Provided that Bill and I fly and land there safely, as I pray that we do, this vacation is going to be a time that will remain unforgettable for the rest of our lives.
As Scott bluntly admited, "we having an East Coast reunion on the West Coast!"
My only regret, a major regret at that, is that Jaime could not make it. I asked if she could go at the time that we were booking airfare. She remained unsure about the whole trip and stated that she could not commit to an answer due to the fact that she probably would not be able to get out of work. I wish she could come; I love her very much and would be delighted to have her with me during that time. If there is anything that I can do to get her out there with me in the next couple months, I will do so.
Jaime and I, however, are tentatively planning our own little vacation, possibly for spring break, in Florida.
That is all for now.
18 more days until graduation!!!!!!
HOLLA!!!
Currently I am at Stockton College. I drove down here early this morning to take care of the exit-interview business that could've prevented me from graduating had I not taken action.
Exit interview, exit-pay the school shitloads of money, exit-freedom that college life provides, exit-don't let the door hit your ass on the way out, whatever you want to call it. Any one of them will do.
Whatever the hell you choose to call it, I did not want it infringing on my graduation, so I dealt with it in person. My trust in the efficiency of airmail is rather slim under such dire circumstances. Next thing I have to do is retrieve my commencement tickets and cap and gown. I will do that before I leave here to head back to D-town. I have work at 4:30 today, as a busser, but I had to come down here to straighten out my business regardless.
Let all the roads and obstacles leading to the glorious day of December 18 be cleared for yours truly. I will not be denied; I need that damn paper ONCE AND FOR ALL!
Around noon, I will be meeting Brian at G-wing for lunch before I eventually depart.
WORTHY OF MENTION: Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson are splitting up. I
suppose "the newlyweds" were not exactly destined to live happily ever
after... I must admit their two-season television series was entertaining.
For the most part, work went rather smoothly today. The first table of mine that was sat by the hosts presented a happy couple eagerly anticipating the holidays upcoming.
This couple had just recently purchased a new vehicle (some sort of pick up truck for which I failed to remember the make) and they were going to do holiday shopping after their meal. They must have been quite satisfied with my service; they left me a $16 tip on a $39 bill (for those of you too lazy to do the math, that is almost 50%)!!! That was phenomenal and it set the tone for a peaceful shift that came and went rather quickly. I opened the restaurant today so I was one of the first to be phased by management.
Basically, in more ways than one, I am playing a waiting game. Waiting for my graduation, waiting for a real "job" that comes with the degree, waiting for a legitimate deal to come up with my own place of residence, and waiting on tables at the Rockaway Olive Garden in the meantime. Lately it has been tough, but nonetheless I continue this job and residence hunt with my head firmly planted about me (as firm as it can possibly be under the circumstances).
In terms of internet access, I have been considering a Verizon DSL account for my computer. The yearly agreement consists of a 14.99 monthly payment with a modem included. Should I decide to discard the yearly agreement, I can pay $37.99 on a month to month basis. At this time, I might opt to stick with the month to month for the reason that I might not be around in D-town for much longer. The length of time left that I will be maintaining residence here remains unknown, but it should not be too much longer if I have my way. At this time, I need internet access in my house so that I may have the opportunity to search for better jobs and housing opportunities.
Scott flew back to California last yesterday. We managed to have a couple days together last week, which is a good thing. As you already know, I went to White Castle with Scott and his wife Liezel shortly after their arrival. On Wednesday night of last week, we went to Murphy's Third Rail Bar and Grill in D-town, which is a new bar that gives The Laughing Lion stern competition. There are not too many elaborate establishments for public dining and drinking in the bowl-shaped Dover-Rico, so it is a blessing when a nice little place such as Murphy's evolves. In fact, Murphy's is probably the only place that even draws me into the bowl anymore. Props to Murphy's for that minor miracle. LOL. They have kareoke night every Tuesday ($2 Coronas and $2 tequila shots offered). Wednesday night was a good time; plenty of D-town heads were in the house. Many of the D.H.S alumni from our graduating class, as well as the classes before and after us, were present. It felt good to see some of them; particularly the ones that I remember.
Later this evening, after he finishes up at the gym, I might be heading to M&S II with Bill Dyer, the dude who is flying out to California with me in January, for a stuffed slice. Until next time, take care, be safe, and remember to return again for the very latest in my world of thoughts, ramblings, ideas, and occurrences. You do not want to miss a beat!
Peace.
Somehow I managed to survive Black Friday at the Olive Garden for yesterday's lunch shift. I volunteered my services as a busser due to the fact that I did not want to deal with the people that day. The manager also informed me that the restaurant had an influx of servers and there were no more sections available. Therefore, I worked as a busser. Friday Feast took place at Gena's house last night, as it usually does every year the day after Thanksgiving. There were a bunch of us present last night, including Gena, Ken, Laura, James, Lauren, Kerribeth, Caroline, and many others.
These people continue to surprise me every year with the delicious eats and treats that are placed on the dinner table for all of us to consume. Along with all the food, there were also different types of wines and champagne, consisting of Pino Grigio, Beringer White Zinfandel, Martini and Rossi, and Kerribeth's Spumanti, which according to James is "cheaper than water."We all had a terrific time eating and drinking; eventually we left Gena's house and headed to Jenkinson's pavilion. For some reason, I just did not feel right at Jenk's. Perhaps I consumed too many different types of wines at Gena's Friday Feast. Besides the Vodka Baybreeze and Pineapple and Vodka I ordered at the beginning of the evening (a $1 each), I drank water for the most part. Jaime and I also found the time, through a bit of the classified drama that went down last night, to get our dance on. In the past, I have had better times at Jenk's; times when my body felt a bit healthier. Nonetheless, I had yet another golden opportunity to spend time with Jaime and Friday Feast was awesome. It seems to get better and better with each passing year.
I just had a bunch of thoughts and occurrences that were typed in this post, but I somehow managed to lose all of it. Fuck it. I am not in the mood to type it again. Perhaps another time. I am too tired to type anymore. I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving. May you all commence with the holiday shopping! If any of you would like to do so, you can buy me a gift as well. I would not be at all offended. LOL. Perhaps I will post a Christmas list for all of you to view in the near future.
Peace.
Scott and his wife Liezel arrived at Scott's home in Mine Hill at 1am this morning. After going to Murphy's in D-town with some friends from work, I went to Scott's house to see him, Liezel, and Scott's mother. I sat down on the recliner and looked at the photo album containing pictures from Scott's wedding in Hawaii. After going upstairs, I noticed the newly renovated bathroom. Very nice.
Afterwards, Scott, Liezel, and I went to White Castle for a little late-night bite to eat. Afterall, they had just gotten off a lengthy flight and were hungry; so was I. I had never been inside the White Castle in Ledgewood before - usually I pull up to the drive through so I can take my order home with me. That place is F I L T H Y. Where are the health inspectors when you need them? There were empty burger boxes on the window sills, drink containers all over the floor, a pickle firmly clinging to the window (looked like Billy Madison had thrown it up there), and a bunch of other filthy after-eats through various areas of the "restaurant".
In addition, there were a group of kids sitting at a table pretty close by, one of which let out a loud, obnoxious-sounding fart for everyone in the joint to hear! White Castle does, afterall, stimulate that type of response in the human anatomy. Ohhhhh... quite an evening at White Castle.
Today I am only scheduled to work the lunch shift. Time will tell if I actually pick up a dinner shift to make this day a double. Later this evening, I will once again be going to Murphy's with Bill, Scott, his chronies, and many of the classmates from our high school (some of which I probably barely even remember). When asked by Scott what my feelings were about "Joey Dirt" joining us at Murphy's, my response was, "Two words - who cares???"
Been there; beat that.
Time for work. Take care everyone.
Peace.
Good morning ladies and gentlemen! There has been somewhat of a hiatus since the last time I updated with a legitimate post, so here I am to make your day a special one.
As was noted this past Saturday, Bill and I will be flying out of JFK airport on Jetblue for California to see our friend Scott for a few days in January. Speaking of Scott, he will be arriving in New Jersey for the Thanksgiving holiday sometime around midnight tonight. I look forward to seeing him again - both this week and in California in January.
I have been so busy with all of these double shifts I am working at the restaurant. To be honest with you, it has been a bit tiring, but money will make people do outrageous things. It is not even like I am making great money, but I am probably making more than I would if I was working single shifts. It is truly amazing how many people literally do not want to go to work at The Olive Garden; I have been picking up shifts left and right.
Anna's birthday this past weekend was the bomb. The people involved in the celebration were Erik, Kristen, Ray, Jack, Mike, Jaime and myself. I believe that is all of us! We went to Casbah Nightclub at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. At the beginning of the evening, security failed to let me into the club because I was wearing black Sketcher boots. However, they were admitting guests who were wearing ugly-ass sneakers!?! Go figure!
Casbah is a landmark for any Atlantic City club guide. It's got it all; hot people, dancers in cages, the shot girls, great sound and lighting system - the works. Hip hop and house 'til 6am and the ladies always get in free. The Casbah, located inside of the Trump Taj Mahal, has set the standard for nightclubs in Atlantic City. The club itself was quite enjoyable and rather alluring, but it had some bizarre standards that are unexplainable to say the very least. As a result, I walked to back to Ray's car with Ray to get the pair of sneakers he had with him. Upon returning to the club entrance, they let me in immediately. Fortunately, Kristen had a P.B.A. card, so I was admitted without having to pay $10 cover that other gentlemen would have the "privledge" of paying after midnight. A walk back to Ray's car to replace my black shoe-resembling Sketchers, with sneakers, in exchange for not having to pay a $10 cover charge???? All is forgiven. LOL. Thank you Kristen!
Interesting standards. Gentlemen are admitted with athletic sneakers. I suppose that just adds to the exotic presence that both the nightclub and the people in it radiate.
We danced for a while, had some drinks, and then headed to Pitney Tavern. We were only there for a few minutes because the kitchen was closed and we really wanted to get something to eat. Therefore, we went to Wawa and got some sandwiches and snacks. Anna let Jaime and I crash at her apartment on campus, which was quite hospitable of her.
The following night, Jaime and I went to the Olive Garden in Hamilton for dinner. What the hell was I doing going to the company I work at for dinner?????????? Oh yeah, perhaps it is because I actually like the food that Olive Garden has to offer, if not the actual labor. Jaime ordered the Chicken Vino Bianco, while I had the Smoked Mozzarella Chicken. In my opinion, that is probably the very best chicken dish in the house; definitely one of the best overall dishes. Too bad it is only a limited time offer. We also ordered my favorite appetizer, the Smoked Mozzarella Fonduta. With the $4 coupon that Jaime had, coupled with my employee discount, our $32 bill was reduced to about $20, which is a damn good deal.
At the end of the night, Jaime and I rented out a room at the Passport Inn - a $100 room with a jacuzzi nonetheless - for only $75 (including tax)!!!!!! Apparently the hotel manager was desperate to sell rooms to guests, so he sold a jacuzzi suite to us at a discounted rate. For that rate, hopefully there was nothing wrong with the jacuzzi and they cleaned it.
That pretty much sums up the latest events in my life. At 11:30, I am due at the restaurant for my lunch shift, and then at 4pm I am working the dinner shift as well. This is the third double in a row that I will be working and I plan on working one tomorrow. So far, I am only scheduled for the lunch shift tomorrow, but I just might pick up dinner so I can earn some additional cash to pay some bills. I am still searching for an apartment in the Atlantic County area. I am preparing for graduation next month and looking for a job that I can get with the degree in the process of that preparation. Life has not been so easy lately, but I suppose it has ups and downs just like everything else in the world. I am eagerly anticipating the potentially smooth ride at the end of this unsteady journey. If it is any consolation, 2006 appears to starting off on a high note with my trip to California along with what will be a newly acquired bachelors degree earned by me.
That is all for now folks. The kiddies are getting rather vocal in library at this moment, so it is time for me to depart. Everyone take care, come again soon, have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, and stuff yourself with turkey all day long. Afterwards, you can burp, fart, and poop all you want. Just don't do it around me.
Peace.
As of last night, during our celebration of Anna's birthday in Atlantic City, NJ, I was informed by Scott that our (Bill and I) tickets have been purchased and I will be flying out of J.F.K. airport on Jetblue in New York with Bill to see Scott in California!
WHO HOO!!!!
Our time in California will be from January 26 to January 30. We already have the tickets, but I am working on getting Jaime a ticket so she can fly out with us for this trip as well. During the trip, we will be traveling to San Francisco, San Diego, Hollywood, Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and the entrance to Compton. LOL. I want to take a picture with the Entering Compton sign. What a magnificent way to begin the year 2006! As you can tell, I am truly excited and psyched up for this big trip. More to come later about the trip as well as Anna's birthday celebration. Time to go to dinner at the Olive Garden with Jaime.
Peace.
HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY ANNA!
After a major scare yesterday morning due to a dilemma at the Bursar's Office, I realize that my graduation will in fact be happening in five short weeks, with a major thanks to Jaime and my mother. Thank you both very much! Graduation IS going to happen. As a result, I have a growing agenda that is going to cross over into 2006, for which I must be ready to acknowledge.
I must renew my auto insurance and pay the necessary fee to get that up and running again. I must also get ready to pay back my student loans next April; first I need to consolidate them. Many responsibilities for which I am accountable for that I must take care of. Most importantly, I am graduating next month! The time has come to look for a real job so that I may have the privledge of bringing home the real bacon rather than the country spam I am currently taking home with me. It will happen ladies and gentlemen.
Monster and Careerbuilder, here I come!
Good evening ladies and gentlemen - family, friends, and fans.
So what is the latest?
Today I worked a lunch shift and was released a little while ago. I made over $40, which is not bad considering it was only a lunch shift. My much-desired move back to South Jersey has not progressed the way I initially wanted it to, but when the right opportunity presents itself, I will seize that opportunity E-MEDIATELY. I am trying to move out of my house A.S.A.P.!
Having picked up some extra shifts for this week, I now have a busy week in store for me. Tomorrow, I am working a double as a server (11:30 am and 4:30pm). Wednesday, I work at 11:30 am as a server and at 4:30 pm as a busser. Thursday's schedule is the same as Wednesday's schedule. On Friday, I work at 11:30 am as a server. Fortunately I am off on Saturday, but I am working another double on Sunday. Hopefully I do not get too burnt out, but I requested the extra shifts so I could make some much-needed income. It is not exactly my favorite way to spend time, nor is the Olive Garden my favorite place to be (at least as an employer), but a man has got to do what a man has got to do when cash is a necessity.
Beginning my shift at 10 o'clock this morning, I informed one of our managers, as well as a few of the other opening staff members, about the work-related nightmares I have been suffering on a consistent basis. She was not surprised; in fact she had some of her own nightmares to share with us. She once had a dream about singing the Bona Festa song to birthday guests and she told us how she sung it out loud in her sleep because she was dreaming about the song so frequently. Whenever I get home from work, I am able to relax and come back down from the stresses in the workplace. However, when I go to sleep, my experiences at work cloud my mind to the point where I wake up in the middle of night, firmly believing that I still have tables of guests to greet and acknowledge. This has never happened to me before. At that point, as a joke, I suggested that corporate hire a therapist for each Olive Garden, so that we may benefit from mental therapy in an extremely stressful work environment. All of the employees present immediately began laughing, but were agreeable with my idea.
This Friday night, we will all be celebrating Anna's 21st birthday in Atlantic City; it is sure to be special event worth attending. I can not wait for that time to come. All of the doubles I am working this week are sure to provide me with the necessary funds for that event.
One week from tomorrow, Scott will be returning to New Jersey to spend Thanksgiving with his family, so I will once again have a chance to see him again. Flights are unbelievably cheap this week, so Scott purchased three round-trip air flights (one for next week, one for January, and one for February) for $138 each to come home to Jersey. That is a tremendous deal; one that is just not at all that common!
That is all for now. Take care and come again soon!
Peace.
Much to my surprise, I discovered last night that Shana, our supposedly "female" feline, is actually a male!!!
It all started when my mother brought her (now him) to the veterinarian to have her tooth checked out. The front tooth was sticking up out of her mouth. According to the vet, she had a serious jaw infection, which lifted the tooth up out of her gums - she also had a winky, without a set, all these years. If you follow the vet's lead, she is a fixed male.
I was startled when my mother told me this on the phone last night. Come on now... how much time do you actually spend examining your pet's genitals??? Personally, I try not to make it a hobby of mine. That was the first time we actually had to take him the the vet and we ended up with an alarming discovery. After all the years of calling him Shana, it will take plenty of cat therapy to restore this poor feline's self esteem.
Is this the week of the transgendered????
First, I become acquainted with the widely renowned and transgendered Dylan Scholinski at Monmouth University... and now I realize my pet is in a similar situation. Female firmly believing and feeling like she is a male, male being catered to as a female, almost identical circumstances! Perhaps they can exchange their equipment. Oh my God, that was disgusting!
Due to the update of this cat's newly discovered sex, Shana will now be renamed Shane. Oh our little hermaphrodite kitty cat - how cute! Even more frightening, all of those carnal poses of flirtation, coming directly from Shane, targeted at the two other male cats (Raz and Dinky), may yet symbolize homosexuality in the third of the three male cats we have in our house!!!
Let me begin this post a loud and hardy Congratulations to Senator John Corzine for his victory over Doug Forrester in the race for Elected Governor. Yes, it happened nine days ago, but better late than never...
As a person who has never truly taken the side of democrat or republican in the political races, I can honestly say that the right man won this particular election. Corzine has been a major help to me in terms of financial aid for college and problems I had with certain companies and their products. He cares about the people of New Jersey as well as our fair state and he will do what he can to help us with property tax reduction.
Work went a little bit smoother today during the lunch shift than it normally goes for me. I made about $10 more than I usually do for lunch, perhaps because my relief for the dinner shift was not due in until 5pm. For next week, I requested that I receive some bussing shifts along with my serving shifts so that I may receive paychecks along with my tip money rather than the voided pieces of paper I have been picking up every Friday.
My day and a half with Jaime in Howell was a good time. On Wednesday night, We rented The Amityville Horror (2005) starring Ryan Reynolds. Maybe it is just me, but Ryan Reynolds is just too damn comical to be in ANY horror movie and that notion was apparent in this remake of The Amityville Horror. Do not get me wrong; this was a decent remake, but Ryan Reynolds was not exactly the George Lutz who was played by James Brolin. Overall, it was good movie and certainly scary enough to make me want to keep the light on for a few minutes before turning in for shut eye.
The next day, we went to Target to pay my Target bill and get a soda, some nachos, popcorn, and a pretzel. Yummy. Around 4pm, we both went to Monmouth University because Jaime had class and I had nothing better to do. As a result, we ended up attending Dylan Scholinski's "The Last Time I wore a Dress" presentation at the student center. Dylan is a transgendered male who was speaking to undergraduate and graduate students about his transformation as well as his duration of time in the nut house when he was a younger she. Afterwards, Jaime took me to Ruby Tuesdays and I ordered a Turkey Sandwich with a side of fries and Cheese and Broccoli soup for an appetizer. Cheese and Broccoli soup is up there with some of the best stuff on earth; truly delicious!
Later that night, we returned The Amityville Horror to Blockbuster and rented Psycho (1960) starring Anthony Perkins. Jaime had never seen this flick, which was directed by the legendary Alfred Hitchcock. The movie is a chilling blend of horror and suspense; it is not a gory slasher film like many of the movies in the horror genre. I recommended Psycho due to the fact that Jaime is psychology major and also because I wanted to see it again. Psycho deals with a shady hermit of a man by the name of Norman Bates who runs his mother's hotel somewhere out in California. Norman's troubled history and upbringing effects the way he acts throughout the film and ultimately has an impact on his actions at the end of the movie. I do not want to give away the entire plot of this film, so you will have to rent it and see it for yourself. Most people have already seen this movie; it is indeed a classic.
Jaime and I had a great couple of days. As a result of all the left over Halloween candy, I had the opportunity to satisfy my sweet tooth.
Here I am back in D-town once again. The progress on my latest residential move has been minimal, but I keep trucking along, nonetheless, and remain confident that a really solid offer will come my way. I am ready to move out of my house in DoverRico and return to South Jersey where I feel I rightfully belong.
That is all for now folks. Later this evening, I will heading to a bar in Andover to drink with Steve-O who is moving back to Utah next week, along with some of the other Olive Garden co-workers. Steve-O was one of my favorite people who worked at the restaurant with me and I will certainly miss having him around. I must go out with my Olive Garden allies and drink to the sad departure of a fine young man. He will be missed. Until next time, have a great night, be safe, and come again soon for the latest news and events.
Peace.
